My goal via this blog is to transform myself into a social media thought leader. To use my successes and failures to learn and teach about this new trend. Is the web the best way to communicate to buyers now of days? Scott makes this point in his introduction. And if that is the case then why do so many companies continue to waste paper and other resources by sending out print collateral? Newsletters, weekly ads, brochures. Save the trees save capital use the web. It seems so simple. If we reach buyers, media, analyst, and others via the web then why do so many websites suck? More than 4 clicks to find content seems outrageous. Don't web designers know that we are consumers with short and intolerable attention spans. After all if it does not reach the first couple of pages on Google is it ever seen. If search engine optimization is one of the best ways to reach the aforementioned publics then why waste valuable resources like human capital or anything else? Is it because the individuals that run the show use antiquated methodologies to run today's business. Was the learning that they received 20 plus years ago flawed or misguided? Are there enough generation xers and yers in management to help generations from the past transition into the future. I think probably not.

So how then do we the young 20 somethings make it up the ladder? Any suggestions?

In case you did not notice...I am no longer documenting my crazy life "VIDA LOCA" here. I will be exploring my journey through social media though. Let's see what I find, my success and failures.

Well, day to day there are some tasks that require updating, downloading, and all that jazz. There are also tasks that come along once in a blue moon and require a lot of attention.

A lot of attention. Then there are projects that seem to disappear as fast as the appeared.

Today I am working on...

Hello All,

I set up this blog to learn more about social media. I am currently investigating how my current employer can harness the power of social media. I am reading The New Rules of Marketing & PR by: David Meerman Scott and will be posting my ideas and thoughts on this piece. If you have read the book and have comments for me many thanks.
